About The Position

A plastic surgeon deals with the repair, reconstruction or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, craniomaxillofacial structures, hands, extremities, breasts and trunk and external genitalia. They use aesthetic surgical principles not only to improve undesirable qualities of normal structures but in all reconstructive procedures as well. A plastic surgeon possesses special knowledge and skill in the design and surgery of grafts, flaps, free-tissue transfer and replantation. Competence in the management of complex wounds, the use of implantable materials and in tumor surgery is required. The Plastic Surgery Department at Geisinger has an opening for a BE.BC Plastic Surgeon. Geisinger is seeking plastic surgeons to join our team in central or northeastern Pennsylvania. Our services include general plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, microsurgical and implant-based breast reconstruction, maxillofacial trauma, cancer/trauma reconstruction, and cleft/craniofacial care. Our integrated plastic surgery residency provides opportunity for teaching, research, and program development. Geisinger has an established reconstructive and cosmetic referral base which is geared to building a thriving practice. We are supported by an excellent team of physician assistants, nurses, and staff. We also collaborate closely with multiple disciplines throughout the system. For those candidates interested in cleft care, there is an opportunity to lead our accredited cleft program. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Licensed Medical Doctor - State of Pennsylvania
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair, reconstruction, or replacement of physical defects of form or function.
  • Utilize aesthetic surgical principles in reconstructive procedures.

  • Manage complex wounds.
  • Use implantable materials and perform tumor surgery.

  • Teach, conduct research, and participate in program development within the integrated plastic surgery residency.
  • Lead the accredited cleft program (for interested candidates).
