The Plastic Process Technician is responsible for setting up, monitoring and optimizing plastic injection molding (or other plastic processing) equipment to ensure efficient production of high-quality parts. This role supports production by troubleshooting processes, maintaining equipment performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in plastic injection molding or similar manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of molding processes, materials, and machine functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Attention to detail and quality focus
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Time management and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with robotics and auxiliary equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up and start up injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling
  • Adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, etc.) to optimize production
  • Troubleshot process issues, defects, and equipment malfunctions
  • Monitor production runs to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met
  • Perform mold changes and ensure proper installation and alignment
  • Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Work closely with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5s standards)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and company policies
