About The Position

PGI is a privately held company, established in 1996, and a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive industry. Our focus is on designing, manufacturing, and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports, and specialty filter markets. Our supply chain network now branches across the Pacific and into South America. This position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and documenting process parameters, inspecting, troubleshooting, performing minor repairs, changeovers, scheduling, and operating all plastic injection molding presses and ancillary equipment within the assigned area. The role involves maintaining plastic injection molding presses, ancillary equipment, and molds for safe and reliable operation, and providing guidance and support to team members to achieve production goals within safety, quality, and scrap targets. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic communication skills to receive and convey information concerning job duties.
  • Ability to interact in-person with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Perform basic math functions (addition and subtraction with whole numbers and decimals).
  • Read and write to access computer information, complete paperwork, and interpret documents.
  • Learn and comprehend standard operating procedures and basic production techniques.
  • Independent judgment to troubleshoot, audit, and changeover various types of equipment.
  • Distinguish between various items for proper length, width, shape, color, and other characteristics.
  • Read various digital and dial measuring instruments.
  • Hand/eye coordination to set up and changeover equipment using hand tools and operate gauges and measuring devices.
  • Ability to stand, squat, kneel, and bend for long periods regularly.
  • Ability to move between various work stations frequently.
  • Ability to push/pull and reach with hands and arms frequently.
  • Flexibility to safely position body in unique positions to set up equipment.
  • Frequently lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, solvents, dust, etc.
  • Understanding of plastic materials (engineering grade resins), hot-runner type plastic injection molds and molding machines, as well as processing requirements.
  • Solid industrial mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret basic blueprints.
  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment as required by Powered Industrial Equipment Program to acquire and maintain license, when required.
  • Maintain a satisfactory record of attendance and conduct.
  • Work any shift and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, adjust, and document process parameters for plastic injection molding presses and ancillary equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on plastic injection molding presses, ancillary equipment, and molds.
  • Perform changeovers, schedule, and operate equipment as required.
  • Maintain plastic injection molding presses, ancillary equipment, and molds to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members related to plastic injection molding processes.
  • Read and interpret production requirements from various forms of information.
  • Transport production/maintenance supplies, including tooling, using various methods.
  • Visually inspect equipment, supplies, and tooling, and perform safety checks.
  • Operate various types of equipment related to maintenance functions.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance.
  • Perform proper start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Observe plastic injection molding operations and make necessary adjustments.
  • Inspect product dimensions and perform quality checks using various measuring devices.
  • Supply and prepare materials for storing products and remove finished product from the production area.
  • Establish requirements for spare production supplies and maintain them.
  • Document and interpret records and reports by entering data into computer systems or completing paperwork.
  • Organize changeovers to ensure safety and minimize downtime.
  • Utilize PM, TPM, and predictive techniques for equipment and tooling maintenance.
  • Schedule and perform machine teardown for repairs and modifications.
  • Schedule and assist with mold cleaning and necessary repairs.
  • Confer with equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers.
  • Monitor work in progress and suggest improvements.
  • Keep supervisor and/or Team Leader informed of production problems and assist in resolution.
  • Promote teamwork and train team members in job operations and paperwork.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and safe work practices.
  • Assist on production lines as needed or perform relatable tasks and duties as assigned.
