Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping and storage of plasma collected from donors. The role involves collecting plasma samples, moving plasma units to the freezer to ensure product quality, and ensuring plasma units are properly stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes handling unsuitable plasma units and samples. The technician will verify the accuracy of unit labeling, utilize sterile technique to draw samples, and use a heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples. They may also be responsible for packing and shipping samples and units, preparing shipping and unit disposal documentation, monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and recording variances. Daily calibration of equipment, accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, and understanding policies for hyper immune programs are also key responsibilities. The role requires maintaining a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies, and following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies. Maintaining confidentiality of information, potential cross-training, and performing other job-related duties as assigned are also part of the role. Bilingual skills may be required.
