About The Position

Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping and storage of plasma collected from donors. The role involves ensuring product quality by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for collecting plasma samples, moving plasma units to freezers, and properly storing them. This includes handling unsuitable units and samples, verifying label accuracy, and maintaining sterility of samples using heat sealers. The technician will also be responsible for packing and shipping samples and units, monitoring and recording equipment temperatures, performing daily equipment calibration, and accurately recording donor data in the electronic donor information management system. Additional responsibilities include understanding hyper immune programs, maintaining a clean work environment, adhering to Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies, promoting safety, and maintaining confidentiality. Cross-training in other areas and bilingual skills may be required. The position also involves performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Will perform basic math calculations
  • Understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions
  • Understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines
  • Will see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Reach, bend, kneel and have high level of manual dexterity
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
  • Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs

Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, including unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Ensure accuracy of unit labeling by verifying the pre-printed label matches the dynamic label.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. Records variances.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintain clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
