About The Position

About the role: As a Plasma Operator, you will receive, segregate, sort and store human blood plasma in preparation of plasma production runs in the Teardown department. You will perform basic troubleshooting tasks for the Automated Plasma Dispositioning System (APDS) Sorting Line. Under the direction of a Supervisor or Lead Operator, you will execute all processes in production, while strictly following cGMP, environmental health and safety guidelines and other related regulations that could apply.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus 1+ years of related experience, or AA or higher with no prior experience required.
  • Must have and understanding of cGMP regulations
  • Must be proficient in a variety of mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures
  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
  • Will be exposed to warehouse and manufacturing areas at +5°C and -20°C or colder
  • Will be exposed to human blood plasma
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • May be required to work in a confined area.
  • Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions
  • Must be able to apply quantitative analysis to analyze process performance
  • Must be proficient in a variety of mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement
  • May require weekend and holiday work.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in both departmental projects and any quality working teams
  • Support all local manufacturing activities in Plasma Operations
  • Clean production area per cGMP
  • Participate on Continuous Improvement teams
  • Perform disposition reconciliation
  • Perform cycle counts, bin diving, inventory count, and pallet spot check
  • Segregate plasma units to be processed with an "On Hold" or "Quarantine" status
  • Follow basic safety rules, SOPs, cGMP, work rules and company policies
  • Complete and/or verify documentation following GDP
  • Operate PIT equipment, including forklift and pallet jack
  • Perform truck receiving transactions in APDS
  • Perform unloading and segregation of plasma arriving from donor centers
  • Perform mandatory stretching at start of shift according to the department stretching program
  • Transfer Plasma to Manufacturing areas safely
  • May perform removal of hazardous waste, if applicable
