About The Position

The Plasma/Laser Cutting Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating plasma and laser cutting equipment to manufacture parts that meet quality, dimensional, and production requirements. This position reads blueprints, loads and positions material, monitors cutting operations, inspects completed parts, performs routine maintenance, and follows all safety procedures. This role works closely with fabrication and production personnel to ensure accurate and efficient processing of materials.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of fabrication processes.
• Proficiency in reading and interpretating blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Understanding of cutting parameters
• Material thickness and metal characteristics
• Quality inspection of cut parts
• Precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Understanding machine parameters, cut quality optimization, and consumable usage.
• Quality control and troubleshooting
• Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
• Familiarity with operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and material-handling equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively

Nice To Haves

• 2-5 years of CNC plasma cutting, laser cutting, fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Load and position metal plates, sheets, or structural material
• Set up plasma or laser cutting machines
• Run cutting programs
• Monitor cut quality, kerf width, and material utilization
• Perform basic machine maintenance
• Verify parts against drawings and specifications
• Safely rig, load, and transport heavy materials as required.
• Ensure all work is completed in a safe and efficient manner
