About The Position

The Burny CNC Plasma Cutter is responsible for the operation of laying out, fitting, and setting up the equipment and completing cuts, trims, or scarfs to the dimensions specified by the blueprints, work order, or layout. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC functions, including plasma cutting parameters, oxy-fuel cutting, and the use of various cutting tools and measuring devices. The operator will ensure finished work conforms to specifications and maintain a positive work atmosphere.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in the use of measuring devices (tape measure, level, protractor, micrometer, compass, etc.).
Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Initiative and safety consciousness.
Mathematical/Geometry skills.
Time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) years of manufacturing experience.
Two (2) years of experience with same/similar equipment.
Previous CNC experience.
Previous welding experience.

Responsibilities

Operate Burny CNC Plasma Cutter equipment.
Lay out, fit, and set up equipment for cutting, trimming, or scarfing metal.
Complete cuts to specified dimensions according to blueprints and work orders.
Understand and utilize all functions of CNC, including plasma cutting tips/nozzle size and speed charts, oxy-fuel cutting tips and gas pressures, kerf settings, amperage settings, and standard shapes.
Operate torches, plasma cutters, Bridgeport, sheers, and various cutting tools.
Position pieces onto table or into fixture using jib or overhead crane.
Select appropriate electrode, gas nozzle, electric current, and gas pressure based on metal thickness and type, data charts, or previous run records.
Adjust amperage and gas blow direction.
Strike arc and guide electrode along lines to cut metal.
Remove chips and spurs, and burn out cracks and holes.
Use measuring devices such as tape measure, level, protractor, micrometer, and compass.
Verify that finished work conforms to specifications.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a cohesive manner with management and peers.
