About The Position

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Plasma Center Nurse (LPN/LVN) to support plasma center operations. In this role, you will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment is expected. You will also support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives as directed by BioLife Medical Affairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, acceptance requirements, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility according to SOPs.
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician's standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings to donors or guidance on medical/technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
