Plasma Center Nurse- RN
About The Position
This position is eligible for a $2000 Sign on Bonus! This role supports plasma center operations and involves determining donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing lab results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment is expected, along with supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs.
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical guidance, and donor safety/eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is needed.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats.
