About The Position

PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. PowerSouth's member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must make an acceptable score on the pre-employment placement exercise.
Must successfully participate in the Power Production Employee Training and Development Program curriculum.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive maintenance and assists in minor corrective maintenance of the Central Generation facilities.
Participates in the safe operation of the hydro turbine and associated auxiliaries including reading, recording, and interpreting plant instrumentation and making adjustments as needed, and operates flood control equipment during emergencies.
Performs routine inspections of the Central Generation facilities to detect abnormal conditions or conditions that require repairs.
Successfully participates in and completes classroom and on the job training including observation of safety rules and practices and environmental compliance guidelines, maintaining a clean work area and identifying potential problems and hazards required for the positions and assists in training other plant technicians as required.
