About The Position

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop floor, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety. This position involves managing a team of operators, technicians, and laborers while coordinating with other departments to meet production goals and customer expectations. The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining a positive, organized, and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a CNC, manufacturing, or shop floor environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of shop floor processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production orders, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with production management software or scheduling tools.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and motivate the shop floor team to ensure optimal performance, high morale, and a collaborative work environment. This includes setting daily production goals and monitoring progress.
  • Coordinate and schedule daily production activities, ensuring the efficient flow of materials, equipment, and personnel. Monitor progress against production timelines and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure all products and processes meet established quality standards. Oversee inspections, identify defects or process issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Enforce company safety policies and ensure that all workers comply with safety standards. Promote a culture of safety, provide necessary training, and perform safety audits.
  • Drive 5S activities throughout the plant to improve uptime and created and optimized working environment.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and that any maintenance or repairs are promptly addressed to minimize downtime.
  • Provide training to employees on shop floor procedures, safety protocols, and machinery operation. Ensure that team members are cross-trained to handle various tasks and responsibilities.
  • Oversee material handling, inventory control, and ensure that supplies are available to meet production demands. Minimize waste and manage storage efficiently.
  • Track production output, efficiency, and quality metrics. Prepare and present regular reports to management on shop performance and key operational metrics.
  • Identify issues that arise in the production process (e.g., delays, quality issues) and find solutions quickly to keep production on track.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, such as streamlining processes, reducing waste, and increasing production efficiency. Encourage employees to suggest improvements.
