About The Position

The Plant Superintendent is directly responsible for overseeing plant operations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards while driving operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and employee development within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role oversees daily operational performance and provides training, guidance, and leadership to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Microsoft Excel reporting capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • chemical manufacturing experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety regulations, and quality systems within a chemical processing environment preferred
  • Prior experience leading in a union environment is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily plant operations and supervise shift supervisors and production personnel.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, labor utilization, employee performance, coaching, disciplinary actions, and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, Process Safety Management (PSM), and company safety standards.
  • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemical materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs including throughput, scrap, labor efficiency, and OEE.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor production processes to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety standards.
  • Train and develop employees on safety procedures, 5S methodologies, and operational best practices.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager and other departments to implement operational, safety, quality, and training programs, aligned with plant goals.
  • Support inventory management, operational projects, and material flow activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
