About The Position

The Plant Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all manufacturing activities to ensure operations perform at optimum productivity, achieving profitability and cost-improvement objectives. This role leads efforts to drive continuous plant improvement, emphasizing customer quality and service while enhancing the plant's competitive financial position.

Experience reviewing operations reports, budgets, cost objective performance, product P&L’s, etc. They will drive accountability for forecast accuracies
Experience driving continuous improvement (LSS)
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers
Ability to manage changing priorities
Experience contributing to the development and maintenance of positive employee relations
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
10+ years of experience in manufacturing or production operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing multiple departments or functional areas
Technical background in glass manufacturing and plant processes
Strong Financial Acumen and business understanding

Responsibilities

Provide direction to the Production Manager and Finished Products Manager on goals and expectations for safety, quality, productivity and costs. Direction must be aligned with the Plant Manager and with the organization.
Direct or assist in formulation, initiation, and administration of plant's production and finished products policies and procedures. Ensure regular follow-up and make recommendations relative to changes in policies or procedures.
Empower their team to take bold actions to improve the main metrics of the facility, ensuring there are strong processes implemented and following OI global guidelines (GMF, Quality Risk Audit, etc.).
Promote a safety culture, enforcing procedures and behaviors that create a safe environment.
Responsible for developing their team (salary and hourly), ensuring they get the right skills and behaviors training as well as tools to accomplish the company’s goals.
Build strategy for short and long term goals, providing the right balance needed based on current environment and needs.
Promote continuous improvement, challenging the status quo to always improve metrics, keeping his team in constant movement.
Hold the team accountable, addressing performance issues in clear, direct and transparent conversations.
Work with sales personnel and customers to maintain familiarity with customer operations.
Work closely with production planning to ensure that jobs are sequenced properly and that all demands are met.
Act as back-up to the Plant Manager when the PM is out of office.
