About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for proactively maintaining and continuously improving the production schedule. The production schedule is the plan the plant uses to produce finished goods in an efficient manner, enabling us to service our customers, both internal and external. The Production Scheduler is responsible for complete and accurate communication to all levels of the Supply Chain Team, providing the necessary information in a clear and concise manner, enabling the group to achieve the performance level necessary to provide exemplary service. They are responsible for buying and maintaining inventory for manufacturing purposes.

Requirements

  • Proactively maintain and continuously improve the production schedule.
  • Ensure efficient production of finished goods to service customers.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with the Supply Chain Team.
  • Buy and maintain inventory for manufacturing purposes.
  • Compile production rates, progress, material inventories, materials used, and customer information for status reports.
  • Coordinate production and shipping activities with Plant Supervisors, Operators, Procurement, Distribution, and Customer Service.
  • Resolve complaints and eliminate delays.
  • Examine documents, materials, and products to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards.
  • Maintain accurate production schedules and provide data to Procurement for material and supply availability.
  • Review production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel, material requirements, and priorities.
  • Revise production schedules due to changes, shortages, backlogs, or interruptions.
  • Assess progress and discuss needed changes with department supervisors.
  • Distribute production schedules and work orders.
  • Establish Bills of Material (BOM) and routings with New Product Setup.
  • Provide documentation for delays, difficulties, and changes to cost estimates.
  • Monitor production data for Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Lead Small Group meetings and weekly Toolbox meetings.
  • Print, reconcile, and maintain records for cycle counts.
  • Utilize ERP and online tools for Inventory management.
  • Confirm/create purchases and maintain open POs.

Responsibilities

  • Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials used, and customer information, so that status reports can be completed
  • Confer with Plant Supervisors, Operators, Procurement, Distribution and Customer Service to coordinate production and shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays
  • Examine documents, materials, and products while monitoring work processes in order to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications
  • Maintain accurate production schedule, providing data to Procurement in order to ensure that inventories of materials and supplies are available to facilitate efficiencies and meet production demands
  • Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel, material requirements, and material priorities
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with Management, Customer Service, and Production
  • Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments
  • Work with New Product Setup to establish Bills of Material (BOM), routings, and information on required equipment, numbers of workers needed, and cost projections
  • Provide documentation and information to account for delays, difficulties, and changes to cost estimates
  • Monitor production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures, using this information for Continuous Improvement activities such as maintenance of routings and BOM’s, increasing accuracy of production schedule and efficiency reporting
  • Lead Small Group meetings involving Safety Committee objectives, SQF requirements and documentation. Hold weekly Toolbox meetings with production personnel to help translate Company objectives so everyone is working toward the same goals
