About The Position

As part of an aseptic beverage manufacturing facility, the Plant Sanitation Clerk is responsible for assisting the Plant Sanitation department with ensuring that all sanitation activities within the aseptic beverage manufacturing facility are carried out effectively and in compliance with safety, health, and quality standards. In this role, the Plant Sanitation Clerk will support the Plant Sanitation department, which is overall responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene of the plant to prevent contamination and ensure product safety. The Sanitation Clerk will work closely with the Sanitation Supervisor and other departments to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all products, equipment, and Team Members in adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) and internal product quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • CMMS systems knowledge required; working knowledge of Upkeep strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.
  • Ability to keep detailed accountability records, including budgets, contracts, and inventory.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Technical knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, materials, inventory management, manufacturing and/or related functions.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and analytical reasoning skills required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Food manufacturing experience a plus
  • Demonstrated process improvement and change management skills desired.
  • Experience in a sanitation role at a manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Experience with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and basic Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the master sanitation schedules to ensure proper cleaning cycles are followed.
  • Creates Work Orders and manages PM schedule within Upkeep for all Plant Sanitation activities.
  • Maintains sanitation inventory, ensuring all cleaning materials and supplies are stocked and reorders supplies as needed.
  • Dispatches time sensitive emergency work in the Plant Sanitation Department.
  • Performs clerical and bookkeeping duties for the Plant Sanitation Department.
  • Compiles data from vendor invoices and supporting documents for the Plant Sanitation Department to verify accuracy of billing data and to ensure receipt of items ordered.
  • Create, draft and route SOPs, Training Sessions, and One-Point Lessons for the Plant Sanitation Department.
  • Supports the proper disposal of waste materials and recycling materials in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Conducts chemical concentration tests on cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Conducts visual inspections of equipment and production/non-production areas to ensure cleanliness and to identify areas that require additional attention.
  • Reports any findings of contamination risks, equipment malfunctions, or any potential hazards to Plant Sanitation Supervision.
  • Helps with the verification and validation of sanitation processes, as required by facility standards.
  • Collaborate with the production team to minimize downtime and maintain cleanliness during production runs.
  • Works with Plant Sanitation Supervision to identify plant sanitization concerns.
  • Manage the Sanitation Training Proficiency Evaluation program.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation and documentation support.
  • Assists with Plant Sanitation Technician activities when needed.
  • Adheres to safety guidelines, including the proper handling and use of cleaning chemicals, PPE (personal protective equipment), and other sanitation tools.
  • Participates in regular training on sanitation protocols, food safety regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Observes and follows GMP guidelines ensuring product quality
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Follows Food Safety Requirement/Standards as needed.
