About The Position

About the team: Join the quality team in Lapeer to help ensure that products, processes, and systems consistently meet defined quality standards and customer expectations.   What you can look forward to as a Plant Quality Engineer II: Train operators, supervisors, and quality personnel on quality procedures, policies, documentation, and systems. Monitor SPC and process capability, analyze performance data, and report results for management review. Develop and maintain quality documentation including FMEAs, Control Plans, Flow Diagrams, Work Instructions, and related records. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using the 8D methodology to address non-conformances and process deviations. Support APQP activities by collaborating with engineering on supplier requirements, gage development, and process readiness. Perform internal quality audits (Control Plan Audits, LPAs, CQI-9) and ensure compliance with AIAG Core Tools, ISO9001/IATF16949, customer-specific, and regulatory requirements. Support production as the Voice of the Customer (VOC) by troubleshooting defects, managing containment actions, and ensuring compliance with specifications and reporting requirements. Design or modify inspection equipment, gauges, and measurement programs (including CMM where applicable) while supporting continuous improvement activities and maintaining professional technical knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with four years of quality experience and/or ASQ CQE certification.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build teamwork and cooperation among workforce and intra-departmentally is essential.
  • Technical knowledge including print reading, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, ISO9001/IATF16949 requirements and Lean/Six Sigma, 8D/Corrective Action and manufacturing concepts are preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer and analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to travel as required is necessary.
  • Requires strong interpersonal, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • PC literacy preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge including print reading, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, ISO9001/IATF16949 requirements and Lean/Six Sigma, 8D/Corrective Action and manufacturing concepts are preferred.
