Requirements

  • Valid NYS drivers license required.
  • High school diploma/GED with 5 years of experience working with boilers, steam, HVAC, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
  • Basic knowledge or understanding of steam boilers, steam traps, PRV’s, and delivery of steam.
  • Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while using critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.
  • Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Healthcare industry or large facility power plants preferred.
  • Participate in ongoing training, certification maintenance, and competency assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and maintains all power house equipment.
  • Performs daily readings of various plant levels, pressures and temperatures and make adjustments as needed.
  • Performs daily chemical tests on boilers, softeners and condensate return water and adjust chemical feeds.
  • Opens boilers annually for inspection and calibrates boiler fuel/air ratios.
  • Responds to calls or alarms regarding problems in regulating temperature.
  • Monitors electrical usage and makes necessary changes.
  • Removes and installs equipment as required including alignment of pumps and motors for service.
  • Possesses knowledge of building automation system for control of air handlers and associated equipment and understanding of pneumatic tube system to assist maintenance mechanics with troubleshooting system problems.
  • Assists with snow removal.
  • Assists with the moving of items within/between locations and from/to storage, including furniture, equipment and files.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.

  • Shift differentials based on eligible shifts worked: Weekday evening shift - additional 10%, Weekday night shift - additional 15%, Weekend day shift - additional 10%, Weekend evening & night shifts - additional 21%.
