The primary function and purpose of this position is to oversee and ensure the proper operation of plant production facilities. Air Liquide is hiring for a Plant Operator. This position is located at our plant in St Romuald. Requirements

  • High school diploma with relevant experience or college diploma in petrochemistry or other.
  • Quality system (ISO) training.
  • Knowledge of compressed and cryogenic gases.
  • Knowledge of computerized systems.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • WHMIS knowledge.
  • Knowledge of handling and transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Must have knowledge of air separation processes and refrigeration units.

Responsibilities

  • Operates air separation plant and pipeline backup system.
  • Ensures safe start-up, operation and shut-down of plant operations.
  • Ensures compliance with procedures established by the Large Industries Group.
  • Carries out tests to verify plant performance, as required.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor based on observations of equipment operation.
  • Ensures periodic monitoring of equipment.
  • Familiar with the properties of industrial gases and cleaning methods for the oxygen department.
  • Supervises subcontractors as needed.
  • Responds to equipment breakdowns.
  • Undertakes small maintenance projects according to skills and with supervisor's approval.
  • Respects the wearing of protective equipment.
  • Pays particular attention to lock-out procedures and those concerning access to confined spaces.
  • Participates in maintaining plant emergency procedures.
  • Acts as first responder in emergency situations and initiates appropriate communications.
  • Reports safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Knows and complies with all procedures specified in the plant's Quality Manual.
  • Completes and forwards all incident reports.
  • Completes daily production data reports in the system and required plant statements.
  • Works with team and cross-functional teams to continuously improve work processes.
  • Analyzes activity, identifies causes of problems and proposes appropriate corrective actions.
