About The Position

We're hiring 3 full-time, 8-month term Plant Operators based in Whitehorse, Yukon. Ready to put your technical skills to work where they matter most? As a Plant Operator, you'll play a key role in operating Yukon Energy's generating facilities and supporting the reliable delivery of electricity that Yukoners depend on every day.

Requirements

Knowledge at the grade 12 level plus some vocational training in light maintenance and operation of electrical generation equipment
Several years of previous related work experience.
Forklift training
LNG specific training (cryogenic properties and hazards)
Proven history of operating electrical generation equipment
A valid class 5 driver’s license.
A valid First Aid certificate.
WHIMIS and TDG training
Fall Arrest training
Confined space certificate
Knowledge of Windows based computer software applications.
Ability to work in a team and cross-cultural environment.
A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada for any employer without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Preference for 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate or relevant trade experience.

Responsibilities

Safely operate Yukon Energy's diesel and natural gas generating units and their auxiliary equipment.
Monitor plant operations and respond to system disturbances and seasonal operating changes.
Maintain compliance with corporate policies and safety standards while supporting the safe and efficient operation of Yukon Energy's generating facilities.
