About The Position

Smart Sand Blair is seeking experienced Plant Operators to join their Production team. This role involves the skilled operation of various processing equipment systems and laboring activities, including directing the grounds crew in maintenance, lubrication, and mechanical assistance. The position operates under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and takes direction from other leaders. The role is based at the Blair facility.

Requirements

  • MSHA training and experience are required.
  • Knowledge and skill to operate basic heavy equipment pieces.
  • Prior experience as a Plant Operator in both Wet and Dry plants.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
  • Good judgment is required.
  • Must be adaptable and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have high safety standards for self and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to read.
  • Plant Operator: 1 year (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates processing instructions to Grounds Crew to: Install, maintain, or repair hoses, pumps, filters, or screens. Maintain processing equipment using hand tools. Inspect machines for hazards, operating efficiencies, malfunctions, wear, or leaks. Remove clogs, defects, or impurities from machines, tanks, conveyors, screens, or other processing equipment. Remove material from discharge outlets to prevent material buildup.
  • Monitors material flow or instruments (e.g. pressure gauges, set points, indicators, or meters) to ensure optimal processing conditions.
  • Sets up or adjusts machine controls to regulate conditions (e.g. material flow or pressure).
  • Trains the Quality Assurance Program and test processes as required by Quality Management System.
  • Examines samples visually or by hand to verify quality (e.g., clarity, quality, texture, or consistency).
  • Must have knowledge of operating small equipment including, but not limited to, skid steers, telehandlers, and man lifts.
  • Must have knowledge of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, haul trucks and loaders.
  • Maintains logs of instrument readings, test results, and shift production. Saves production information in a computer database.
  • Uses hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrates constant commitment to safety, professional behavior, and environmental considerations.
  • Formulates, documents, and maintains quality assurance standards and ongoing quality control objectives.
  • Communicates with loader operators to direct flow/pace of sand feed.
  • Works cooperatively to comply with facility-wide environmental and quality management systems.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
