Ovintiv requires a full-time CONTRACT Plant Operator to work at our Wembley, Alberta Processing Facility. The plant is a sour gas processing facility that includes inlet separation, compression, dehydration, amine sweetening, refrigeration, turbine cogen, deepcut and acid gas injection. This position requires strong knowledge and experience from the operator in compression, amine sweetening, refrigeration, condensate stabilization and NGL handling. The plants require 24 hour coverage consisting of 12 hour shifts.

Requirements

  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate minimum.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • Three or more years of operational experience.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must live within the Grande Prairie catchment area.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in use and application of PC programs specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
  • Ability and confidence to work with minimal supervision and proven strong leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; open to take on a variety of operational challenges.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2nd class preferred.
  • Operational and maintenance experience in gas compression, dehydration and NGL recovery is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate gas plant equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization working closely with Shift Lead and Lead Operator.
  • Monitor and control plant and field processing conditions utilizing control systems.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant, process and control room areas.
  • Responsible for minor maintenance and the coordination of other maintenance activities.
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, follow safe work procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for corrective action if required.
  • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
  • Ensure work order and operations improvement processes are followed.
  • Maintain proper documentation including plant log, maintenance records, safety & environment reports, etc.
  • Assist with special projects, including turnarounds.
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators such as production, downtime and production losses.
