Covia is looking for a dynamic Plant Operator employee who will have a positive impact on our team at our Menomonie, WI location. The Plant Operator is accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant and must possess aptitude for multiple disciplines and be proficient in the operation of equipment associated with all functional areas within the plant.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.
Basic computer skills and data entry are required.
Must possess the ability to perform in a physically demanding environment.
Qualified candidates must be available for shift work, weekends and overtime.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in an industrial environment is a plus.
Prior HMI and shipping software experience is a plus.
Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
Previous experience within mining operations a plus.

Responsibilities

Work in a safe manner and abide by all Covia and MSHA safety rules, regulations and best practices.
Carry out the activities in a way that does not expose the worker or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk.
Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors.
Operate mobile and stationary equipment in a safe manner which is most efficient and reduces damage, downtime, and quality issues.
Complete required paperwork in an orderly, accurate, and professional fashion.
Be physically capable of performing job duties which include but are not limited to: Be capable of walking on uneven ground, up and downhills, and flights of stairs. Be capable of climbing ladders and working at height. Be capable of wearing a respirator, safety harness, safety glasses, hard hat and other Personnel Protective Equipment. Be capable of working in year-round outdoor conditions which include hot, cold and wet weather. Be capable of push, pull, lift and carry 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
Perform preventive maintenance activities and assist in minor and major maintenance repair activities as directed.
Assist with any continuous improvement projects as necessary.
Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
