About The Position

Seven Seas Water Group (SSWG) is seeking a Plant Operator - Mechanic for its operations on the Island of Aruba. This role is responsible for the operations and maintenance of reverse osmosis seawater desalination equipment (SWRO and BWRO). The position involves daily operations of RO plants, performing manual labor, maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment, and recording plant data. This role is consistent with the experience of a plant mechanic and requires some shift work, potentially including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Requirements

Must be able to engage in continuing education and training on all aspects of the job, including EHS, electrical, mechanical, and chemical topics.
Must be healthy and of strong mind and body to engage in physical work, including lifting.
Must be neat and clean with good personal hygiene and dress as required for working at the facilities.
Must be willing and able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (supplied by the company).
Must not have a criminal background.
Must have transportation to be able to come to work at various times and locations as needed.
Must be willing and able to use hand and power tools.
Must be prompt, punctual, and not suffer from absenteeism.
Must have and maintain the necessary qualifications required to obtain and maintain a GEBE security pass and possess the appropriate government identification.
Must not use obscene or vulgar language or engage in unprofessional behavior.
Must not be a substance abuser or bring any illegal substance, firearm, or alcohol onto the work site.
Should be willing to travel between Caribbean Islands as needed to support operations and installations.
Able to effectively communicate in English, both written and oral.
Must be a graduate of primary education, MTS level, and have technical education with experience in reverse osmosis maintenance and operations.
Must have some experience with SCADA systems.
Must have good computer skills (MS Office).
Must possess 3-5 years of experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
Must have the ability to oversee others and train new operators.
Required to advise management and work according to Company and customers’ procedures and guidelines.
Advanced skills required in one or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing and piping systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Responsibilities

Make daily observations of equipment and process for proper and safe operation, including checking for leaks, unsafe conditions, non-standard data, unusual vibrations, sounds, smells, or operating temperatures.
Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Assist in developing standard maintenance protocols.
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems according to plant SOPs.
Perform corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Install new equipment as needed or determined by management.
Support upgrades of existing equipment as determined by management.
Report any improperly working equipment or unsafe situations to the supervisor or designated personnel.
Replace consumable products such as filter elements and chemicals.
Complete Company-required training courses in environmental health and safety and comply with safe working practices.
Turn off and Lock Out/Tag Out equipment when maintaining/repairing.
Participate in work/evaluation meetings positively.
Work on various projects to keep the plant neat, clean, and safe, including corrosion removal, brushing, sweeping, sanding, painting, and tightening.
Become educated through on-the-job training on the process and equipment for installation, preventative maintenance, rebuilding, repairing, or replacement of system components.
Track inventory and record used materials, informing the supervisor of needed replacement materials to ensure adequate spare parts, consumables, and lubricants are available.
Correctly operate equipment, machinery, hand, and power tools.
Maintain and secure work tools, informing the supervisor of needed replacement tools.
Communicate with supervisors and operators from various shifts.
Be positive, pleasant to co-workers, and customer service oriented.
Report any customer feedback, positive or negative.
Engage in any other duty provided it is safe and within capability.
Back-up operations of SWRO systems, using daily checklists to accurately record plant data (flows, pressures, measurements).
Complete data reporting as required by the company.
Start, stop, and operate RO trains and pump stations as requested by demand, meeting quantity and quality specifications.
Back-up warehouse operations as needed.
Assist with on-the-job training to new employees.
