About The Position

This role involves monitoring and managing all production within an oil and gas processing facility to maximize output. The Plant Operator I will operate and maintain various gas processing equipment, including compressors, engines, and pumps, ensuring efficient operation across all plant areas. This position requires a strong understanding of process equipment, safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively within a team to minimize downtime and maintain product specifications. The role also includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting minor issues, and preparing necessary reports and documentation.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years in gas plant and outside operations or equivalent experience
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, CDL a plus (and may be required in some locations)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and background check
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited, state-certified program
  • Must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and participate in an on-call rotation
  • Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining equipment within oil and gas facilities
  • Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs
  • Capable of rigorous outdoor activities with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, working in confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment
  • Aware of DT effects on volumes; understand alarm management to minimize DT
  • Basic knowledge of routine maintenance such as changing filters, washing and flushing instruments, cleaning air coolers and exchangers, and performing lab analyses
  • Basic knowledge of operations of multiple gas processing plants, booster stations and compressor stations
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in gas plant and outside operations and maintenance
  • Ability to work with a diverse team
  • Possess a working knowledge of process equipment, separation, flow, etc.
  • Has basic computer skills; data entry into various electronic databases
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Has integrity, good communication skills, and a positive attitude
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas of responsibility
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times as work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles and moderate to loud noise

  • Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage all production within the oil and gas processing facility to maximize production
  • Monitor and operate all gas processing equipment, including compressors and operate engines and pumps
  • Operate plant equipment in all areas of the plant, including compression and DCS
  • Work effectively with others to minimize plant downtime
  • Maintain all company provided tools and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance of production equipment, diagnose / troubleshoot and repair minor issues
  • Optimize processing throughout the facility and maintain proper product specifications
  • Perform repairs with limited supervision, report needed repair of all compressors, engines and pumps to Maintenance
  • Make minor adjustments to instrument control panels that regulate gas pressures, flow rates, temperatures, and fluid levels
  • Prepare EPA engine log sheets for every shift; prepare daily plant report; maintain all employee related paperwork, time sheets, logs, etc. as needed in a timely manner
  • Efficient in the operation of DCS (Distributed Control Systems) to monitor controls panels
  • Understand and comply with SOPs; follow/ support all HSE policies at all times
  • Know and comply with all PSM regulatory requirements
  • Practice spill prevention countermeasures, control reporting, and monitor environmental compliance
  • Perform security and equipment facility rounds; minimize downtime and unsafe conditions
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly and annual inventory reconciliation including agency and other required reports
  • Perform other various tasks as assigned by the Foreman
