The Plant Operator-Cylinder Filler requires a commitment to safety, regulatory and quality procedures while conscientiously managing equipment for the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, both for high pressure and liquefied gasses. Loads and unloads gas cylinders from pallets, moving cylinders safely utilizing proper cylinder movement techniques. Follows Airgas standard operating procedures while conducting pre-fill inspections of cylinders and valves to ensure cylinders can be safely filled. Fills cylinders by temperature/pressure or weight, per company standard operating procedures. Conducts pre, during and post fill inspections to determine the cylinder has been filled and is not leaking. Performs analysis of contaminants of pure gas cylinders while bringing an understanding of how to properly use various pieces of analytical equipment. Ideally, you understand the hazards of various gases by utilizing material safety data sheets, cylinder shoulder and or body label, and pure gas color coding. Performs cylinder maintenance including painting cylinders, safely changing valves and or pressure relief devices. Assist with inventory and general housekeeping. Collaborates on identifying solutions for nonconforming products. Knowledge of basic compressor operation and maintenance as well as cryogenic liquid pump operations. Ideally, you have the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance. Supporting the development of new gas fillers in all of the above aspects of the department. Contributing to the team’s success through other duties as assigned.
