Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to attend classes and pass the state-required boiler operator certificate program.
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate and work with coworkers and customers professionally and with a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read and understand the material.
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate – must know basic computer skills.
  • Possess good time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical and mechanical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks and railcars in accordance with Tessenderlo Kerley policy and OSHA, EPA, HM-126, BOE and DOT regulations.
  • Read and record local instrumentation.
  • Obtain and analyze product samples to ensure product quality.
  • Contain, clean up, package and label Hazardous Waste according to HAZWOPER training and OSHA, EPA, RCRA, HM-126 and DOT regulations.
  • Outside operation of manual valves and equipment.
  • Assist the A operator in troubleshooting and correcting irregularities with the process and process equipment.
  • Participate in the plant safety program, which includes presenting and attending required safety meetings, reporting potential hazards, and performing monthly safety inspections.
  • Routinely inspect vessels and equipment to prevent equipment failure or damage.
  • Maintain plant property in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assist in plant projects, including maintenance, turn-around, lock out/tag out and confined space entries.
  • Perform new facility startup activities, which includes P&ID walk-down/red-line as built drawings, equipment and piping hydro-testing, and preparing equipment for service when turned over to operations.
  • Assist with process area setup and organization.
  • Assist with valve tagging, pipe labeling, sign installation and safety related painting.
  • Transload incoming product railcars to bulk truck for customer delivery until terminal is functional and in operation.
  • Assist with development of plant operating procedures.
  • Support the A operator in submitting maintenance orders.
  • Utilize plant equipment to clear snow and remove ice during inclement weather.
  • Train closely with the A operator to learn the process.
  • Assist with the execution of turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Monitor activities of contract personnel to ensure safe work practices are implemented.
  • Maintain all plant areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Obtain, analyze and prepare for shipment process and storage product samples.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by management.
