About The Position

The Plant Operator is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires entry-level experience in plant operations. Regardless of specialty, a Plant Operator I may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects. This is a benefits-eligible, full-time role within the IMC Facilities Department.

Requirements

  • Some experience as a plant operator.
  • Demonstrated abilities of the skills listed above (Mechanical Equipment, Cleaning, Machinery Operations, Equipment Operations, Plumbing, Plant Equipment, Plant Operations, Boiler Operations, HVAC Systems, Chemicals Handling, Mechanical Systems Maintenance, Repair, Independent work and time management, Documentation of work, Communication, Ability to maintain a clean, safe workspace, Strong mechanical aptitude, Safety).
  • A valid driver's license may be required for this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital's boiler and/or chiller systems.
  • Performing water treatment on boilers, steam systems, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Maintaining and preparing these systems for inspections.
  • Performs or assists in boiler and chiller teardown and major maintenance.
  • Assists in winterizing chillers and cooling towers.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC digital and pneumatic controls.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of their working area and assigned locations.
  • Effectively communicates with staff at all levels and prioritize their workload to manage their time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of timekeeping documentation.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handling equipment, and other terminal HVAC devices.
