About The Position

The Plant Manufacturing Engineer II role focuses on process improvement and project execution within a manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication equipment and processes, along with demonstrated leadership and project management skills. The engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to increase throughput and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), utilizing lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis techniques. The role also involves collaborating with various stakeholders, managing change, and potentially working with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as various manufacturing technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline; Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with metal fabrication equipment and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated hands-on and leadership experience executing projects.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated strong engineering skills, including 2D/3D CAD design and GD&T experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and sound technical judgment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and build consensus in order to make decisions to move projects forward.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with change management methodologies.
  • Knowledge/experience of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies including sheet metal fabrication, steel tube fabrication/bending, welding, coatings, thermoforming, controls, automation and IoT.
  • Hands on fabrication and/or operations experience (Mills, Lathes, Grinders, CNCs, Welding, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Execute projects related to metal fabrication equipment and process improvement.
  • Drive successful project results through strong internal/external customer focus.
  • Lead and execute actions to correct machinery deficiencies, yielding throughput and OEE improvements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities using the Five Lean Principles, 5S, and the Eight Wastes.
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving techniques such as 5Y, Fish Bone, and A3.
  • Utilize the FMEA process to eliminate and mitigate risk.
  • Identify and implement cost outs for labor, materials, and overhead.
  • Collect, analyze, present data, and make decisions based on findings.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders on a wide variety of projects.
