About The Position

Taber Extrusions, a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusion-based products, is seeking a Plant Manager for its Gulfport, Mississippi facility. Since 1973, Taber has served diverse markets including Military, Department of Defense, Aircraft/Aerospace, Marine/Shipbuilder, and Automotive. The company operates manufacturing sites in Russellville, Arkansas, and Gulfport, Mississippi, with segments including Extrusion, Cast House, Friction Stir Welding, and Micro Extrusion. Taber has recently invested significantly in expanding its Russellville facility with a new press line designed for the aerospace industry, aiming to double revenue and enhance competitiveness. The company offers a wide range of capabilities, including various aluminum alloys, extrusion sizes, and value-added services like precision cutting, welding, and friction stir welding. The Gulfport facility houses a cast house that produces secondary aluminum billet. This role is crucial for leading all plant operations, ensuring objectives are met for safety, customer service, quality, and manufacturing cost, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and six sigma principles. The Plant Manager will be a key member of the leadership team, collaborating with Sales, Finance, Technical Services, and Human Resources to drive industry leadership and financial objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or equivalent work experience.
10 years of progressive responsibility working in engineered products/metal working environment.
Thorough knowledge of equipment and processes of the entire plant.
Knowledge of personnel policy.

Aluminum extrusion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for all areas of plant operations including planning/scheduling, maintenance, and all manufacturing departments.
Establish and manage processes to ensure objectives are exceeded for safety, customer service, quality, and overall manufacturing cost.
Embrace and support efforts to develop and utilize the principles of lean manufacturing and six sigma to facilitate the creation of a highly engaged work culture that embraces continuous improvement.
Develop and manage the plant's resources effectively.
Ensure consistent execution of the manufacturing process while exceeding established objectives.
Serve as the plant champion for safety, ensuring a zero-accident mindset is instilled in all employees.
Provide leadership to create a customer-centric culture that sets the industry standard for quality, lead-time, and on-time delivery.
Establish, deploy, and monitor plant performance metrics to support AOP objectives while ensuring goal alignment throughout the organization.
Support efforts to continuously reduce unplanned scrap and improve the COPQ (cost of poor quality).
Ensure an effective maintenance management system is in place to achieve objectives for quality, process reliability, and overall manufacturing cost.
Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment to support a world-class 5S culture.
Utilize applicable work instructions and control plans.
Demonstrate ability to complete all applicable paperwork associated with this job title.
Demonstrate leadership and organization skills.
Oversee all Sales activities.
Manage personnel decisions.
