Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related fields or 5-year plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of company operating systems, budget and financial statements
  • Must have a working knowledge of plastic products relating to the manufacture of Fratco products
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement program and procedures required
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combi- nation of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage Plant operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping & receiving
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure that total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Must have thorough understanding of all subordinate positions
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates in assigned positions
  • Make purchases for parts and supplies without approval. May issue purchase orders for capital acquisitions only with the approval of the Director of Operations
  • Organize the workflow of the production plant, keeping in mind the skills of each employee as tasks are assigned
  • Develop and write the position or job description of each and every subordinate position and ensuring that the position is filled by qualified people and well understood by them
  • Ensure that production is completed in a timely manner in order to meet inventory needs
  • Work in cooperation with the Director of Operations in the maintenance of profit and the control of expenses
  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts and budgets, with input from management, to assure that the organization is meeting the predetermined levels of profit and standard cost levels for production
  • Post all information and data gathered for the proper control purposes of productivity, production, and pay
  • Maintain and provide security for all company property such as personnel, building, grounds, equipment, and product
  • Dispatch personnel and equipment in emergency and non-emergencies using established company protocols
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of FRATCO, especially products, operations, financial, customers, and personal information.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses
  • Maintain a positive cooperative working relationship with customers, community and those persons superior or subordinate to this position, as well as peers
  • Direct responsibility for production of products that meet all company specifications
  • Making sure that careful setups are made on the machines, the tooling is handled and cared for properly and setup records are maintained
  • Enforcement of safety rules, training of personnel in safety. Periodic review of the rules and modification as needed to comply with OSHA and other government safety & health regulations
  • Working closely with the Quality Control Manager, Plant Maintenance Supervisor and Production Shift Supervisors to start jobs on schedule, properly set them up and produce high quality product in time to meet inventory stock statuses
  • Promote team effort in helping each other. This will increase the performance levels of all in supplying a high standard of satisfactory service to the customer
  • Assure that the common team goals are met or exceeded
  • Always promotes safety first and assists in maintaining housekeeping requirements on the premises
  • Ensure that company rules are fairly and consistently applied across all shifts
  • Enforce the requirements that all employees be properly trained, and that cross-training is used to protect production output
  • See that all machines and equipment are kept very clean, properly adjusted and well maintained
  • Oversee housekeeping for the whole facility. This does not diminish the responsibility of other supervisors to keep their areas of responsibilities clean
  • Provide written reports to the Director or Operations as required
  • Train the Plant Maintenance Supervisor so they can act as a back-up for the Plant Manager when needed
  • Work closely with the Plant Maintenance Supervisor and the Plant Assistant to assure that raw material supply is maintained and that production scheduling is in adherence to the company standards
  • Maximize machine utilization, consistent with producing quality products
  • Keep employees well informed about operations at Fratco; maintain open communications and high moral
  • Resolve operational and human relation problems, trying to minimize the problems that must go to the Director of Operations, but keeping him/her informed of what is happening
  • Work with the Director of Operations to develop a budget for your area each year, then maintain spending within the budget unless specially authorized by the Director of Operations to exceed the budget on an item
  • Recommend equipment and tooling needs, justifying the needs by showing improved profitability, safety, production output, etc.
  • Approve all shift overtime. Minimize work by reviewing the production schedules for accuracy
  • Evaluate all directly reporting employees on a regular basis
