Plant Manager - Steel Fabrication
About The Position
We are seeking a Plant Manager to run a steel fabrication plant. The ideal candidate will have experience with structural steel, automotive, or fabricating machinery, equipment, or materials handling systems. Experience in an operation involving welding is highly desirable. This role involves maintaining a safety-first culture, improving efficiencies in quality control and on-time shipments, and overseeing a production organization that prioritizes worker safety and cost control. The Plant Manager will also make decisions regarding operating and capital budgets (P&L), lead teams in production, supply chain, and facility maintenance, and drive plant profitability through quality and safety initiatives. Cost reduction through Lean Manufacturing practices and plant layout optimization is also a key responsibility.
Requirements
- Experience in production management for an equipment or machinery company is key
- At least seven years of experience
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and six sigma
- Familiarity with Mig welding is a plus, but not required
- Able to read and interpret fabrication drawings
- Experience managing skilled assembly and fabrication workers
- Good experience with plant budgets and managing production levels
- Excellent safety record a must
