About The Position

North West Rubber Ltd. is seeking a Plant Manager for its Houston, Texas facility. Founded in 1968, NWR is a leading manufacturer of recycled rubber flooring solutions with a global presence in over 50 countries. The company has expanded its reach across multiple industry sectors and is one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers worldwide, with manufacturing facilities in Canada, the USA, and China. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient, productive, and cost-effective manufacturing of high-quality recycled rubber products, while maintaining a strong customer service orientation. This role involves providing leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports (Production, Maintenance & Administration) to uphold NWR core values and achieve company objectives. The Plant Manager will also play a crucial role in shaping the plant's performance culture and inspiring employees to achieve greater results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years in plant or manufacturing operations management, combined with at least 3 years of maintenance experience either as Maintenance Manager or as an individual contributor.
  • Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, process) required.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading teams, performance management, and building an inclusive, safety-focused workplace culture.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, quality control practices, and regulatory compliance within an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data analysis to track, monitor and improve operational performance.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Ability to travel internationally is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in rubber, plastics, or related manufacturing sectors is an asset.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve a 0 Lost Time Incident rate, improve safety culture, and reduce risk score.
  • Achieve > 94% 1st grade mat quality.
  • Achieve > 98% On-time shipments and > 98% Complete shipments and <7 days to ready.
  • Achieve the annually budgeted volume and productivity targets and develop an actionable list of throughput, productivity, and efficiency improvement initiatives to show measurable continuous improvements.
  • Achieve budgeted cost per unit targets and identify an actionable list of initiatives to reduce cost per units.
  • Hire required Production, Maintenance and Administration staff to achieve plant performance.
  • Ensure that all employees receive proper onboarding support and ongoing performance reviews with emphasis on demonstration of the NWR core values, and individual productivity and attendance.
  • Achieve annual Turnover rate of < 20% and Absenteeism Level of < 3.5%.
