About The Position

At Kalmbach Feeds, we’re growing fast — and we’re looking for a Plant Manager who thrives on being present, engaged, and hands-on. This is not a role for someone who manages from behind a desk. We want an active, servant leader who works alongside the team, leads by example, and builds trust through action. You’ll guide day-to-day operations while driving production efficiency, product quality, and team development — all in alignment with our core values and commitment to our customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in management or 10+ years of feed mill/production experience.
  • Skilled in balancing strategy with on-the-floor leadership.
  • Experienced in building strong teams, improving efficiency, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with data-driven decision making.
  • Able to thrive under pressure and adapt quickly.
  • A strong communicator and problem-solver with proven leadership results.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or agriculture preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily plant operations to meet production, quality, and customer goals.
  • Plan and coordinate with shift supervisors to achieve manufacturing objectives on time and within budget.
  • Optimize operations to increase capacity, flexibility, and quality while controlling costs.
  • Monitor plant performance and take proactive corrective actions.
  • Develop and manage production plans and budgets.
  • Implement systems to control operating expenses, labor hours, and staffing levels.
  • Use data to identify waste and drive continuous improvement.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to design and validate efficient processes.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, company policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain audit readiness and provide leadership for FSMA and HAACP certification.
  • Serve as a Qualified Individual under FSMA, applying food safety protocols.
  • Set policies to ensure consistent, high-quality operations.
  • Serve as a visible, approachable leader on the plant floor.
  • Manage, train, and develop hourly and salaried operations staff.
  • Build a collaborative, motivated team culture.
  • Address employee concerns promptly and constructively.
  • Lead projects to improve production, quality, and labor utilization.
  • Align initiatives with company goals and provide clear direction.
  • Develop systems to track performance and return on assets.
  • Resolve production challenges quickly and effectively.
