About The Position
North West Rubber Ltd. is seeking a Plant Manager for its Houston, Texas facility. Founded in 1968, North West Rubber is a leading manufacturer of recycled rubber flooring solutions with a global presence in over 50 countries and multiple industry sectors. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Canada, the USA, and China, and is one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers worldwide. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the safe manufacturing of high-quality recycled rubber products efficiently, productively, and cost-effectively, while maintaining a strong customer service orientation. This role involves providing leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports (Production, Maintenance & Administration) to uphold company core values and achieve business objectives. The Plant Manager will play a crucial role in shaping the plant's performance culture and inspiring employees to achieve higher results.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years in plant or manufacturing operations management.
- At least 3 years of maintenance experience (as Maintenance Manager or individual contributor).
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, process) required.
- Demonstrated capability in leading teams, performance management, and building an inclusive, safety-focused workplace culture.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards, quality control practices, and regulatory compliance within an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use data analysis to track, monitor and improve operational performance.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to travel internationally is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in rubber, plastics, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe manufacturing of high-quality recycled rubber products in an efficient, productive, and cost-effective manner.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports (Production, Maintenance & Administration).
- Promote NWR core values and support the achievement of company objectives.
- Define and exemplify the performance culture of the plant.
- Inspire all plant employees in the achievement of greater results.
- Achieve a 0 Lost Time Incident rate, improve safety culture, and reduce risk score.
- Achieve > 94% 1st grade mat quality.
- Achieve > 98% On-time shipments and > 98% Complete shipments and <7 days to ready.
- Achieve the annually budgeted volume and productivity targets.
- Develop an actionable list of throughput, productivity, and efficiency improvement initiatives to show measurable continuous improvements.
- Achieve budgeted cost per unit targets.
- Identify an actionable list of initiatives to reduce cost per units.
- Hire required Production, Maintenance and Administration staff to achieve plant performance.
- Ensure all employees receive proper onboarding support and ongoing performance reviews with emphasis on demonstration of NWR core values, individual productivity and attendance.
- Achieve annual Turnover rate of < 20% and Absenteeism Level of < 3.5%.
