About The Position

Directs safety, planning, procurement, manufacturing, quality, warehousing, and shipping activities for an insecticide manufacturing facility. The role focuses on ensuring a safe and efficient operation that produces high-quality products in accordance with company standards to meet customer demands. This includes collaborating on production schedules, utilizing MRP and inventory systems, and guiding manufacturing activities to minimize backorders. The Plant Manager supervises manufacturing personnel, assists in troubleshooting production and quality assurance issues, and establishes goals for the manufacturing team to improve productivity and product quality. They develop plans and budgets to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, implement cost-saving measures, conserve resources, and streamline procedures. The role also involves evaluating automation options, overseeing the maintenance of quality and manufacturing records, managing equipment maintenance and calibration, and identifying/qualifying back-up suppliers. Responsibilities extend to managing QA, including the release of raw materials and finished goods, and overseeing stability programs. The Plant Manager ensures plant operations comply with EPA, DOT, FDA, and other federal and state agencies, assists with product registrations and regulatory submissions, and approves expenditures for raw materials and packaging. Vendor audits may be conducted, and participation in managing customers for contract manufacturing is expected. The role involves preparing supporting documents, communicating schedules, advising customer service on billings, and undertaking miscellaneous projects. Collaboration with Talent Acquisition for recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and retaining staff is crucial. The Plant Manager participates in the annual budgeting process, analyzes and controls expenditures, reviews financial statements, and explains variances. They approve travel and expense reports, assist in evaluating ROI for product development and capital investments, and complete divisional reporting requirements. Adherence to policies and procedures, support of organizational goals, and participation in meetings are expected. Fostering a success-oriented, accountable, and ethical work environment through positive attitude, energy, enthusiasm, and respect is key. The role includes conducting performance appraisals, proposing compensation, addressing complaints, and resolving personnel issues.

Requirements

  • B.S. in a Engineering or Business.
  • Must have experience in budgeting and operations management.
  • Experience with EPA regulated products and/or aerosol filling operations
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience managing production, operations and maintenance
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to motivate direct reports to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to communicate with regulatory bodies, customers, vendors, management staff and employees.
  • Ability to interpret scientific data and results.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes goals for the manufacturing team to work toward to improve productivity and product quality and helps employees measure improvements relative to the goals.
  • Tracks and analyzes labor efficiency versus standards.
  • Develops plans and programs together with supporting budget requests to improve efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations.
  • Develops and implements cost saving measures.
  • Conserves organization resources.
  • Streamlines procedures and operations to maximize employee productivity.
  • Evaluates options for automation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of quality and manufacturing records for products to be made in the plant, including, but not limited to establishing systems to receive, release and track inventories and SOPs for recall procedures, returned product procedures, etc.
  • Oversees equipment maintenance and calibration schedules.
  • Manages identification and qualification of back-up suppliers for key products and raw materials.
  • Manages QA including release of raw materials & finished goods and stability programs.
  • Implements all systems needed to bring and keep plant operations in regulatory compliance with the EPA, DOT, FDA and other Federal and State agencies.
  • Assists in completing and maintaining all federal product registrations and regulatory submissions.
  • Approves expenditures of raw materials & product packaging for products made at the plant.
  • May conduct vendor audits for new and existing suppliers.
  • Participates in the management of customers utilizing Neogen for contract manufacturing.
  • Prepares supporting documents and paperwork.
  • Communicates schedules.
  • Advises customer service on billings required for production.
  • Miscellaneous projects and tasks as directed by management or required to meet regulations.
  • Works with Talent Acquisition team on recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and retaining staff needed in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Participates in annual budgeting process by generating operational and capital budgets; submits for approval.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Reviews divisional financial statements and explains significant variances to budget and prior year for areas of responsibility.
  • Approves travel and expense reports for direct reports.
  • Assists in evaluation of ROI for product development and capital investments.
  • Completes divisional reporting requirements, including monthly recaps of key measurables, accomplishments and factors affecting area of responsibility.
  • Completes assigned administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Adheres to divisional and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Supports organization’s goals and values.
  • Participates in divisional and corporate meetings as requested including monthly management meetings and R&D Meetings as applicable.
