About The Position

Responsible for performing tasks and providing services to support the plant’s overall business plans and objectives as directed for the plant. This role involves performing planned and scheduled maintenance, including PMs and changeovers, supporting plant operations for mechanical and/or electrical issues, and driving improvements to production equipment. The technician will be accountable for projects, repairs, and improvements on equipment, mold changes, and maintaining preventative maintenance. Ensuring proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment, improving production equipment efficiency and reliability, and recommending, planning, repairing, modifying, making, installing, and adjusting necessary elements are key aspects of this role. The position also involves reviewing visual management boards, driving process control procedures, and ensuring production equipment performs to company standards.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Job related experience for (2) two years minimum.
  • Mastery of multiple pieces of equipment related to Injection Molding, Blow Molding and Extrusion Molding.
  • Must be able to effectively train personnel.
  • Must be able to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to use electronic test equipment.
  • Must possess an interest in and an aptitude for mechanics, electronics, and electrical.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to obtain required equipment certification such as PIT, Genie Boom.
  • Supplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties. This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, air tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools, and specialty tools needed for specific job tasks in blow molding, injection, and mold repair / maintenance.
  • Must also supply own toolbox to adequately secure tools.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Electro mechanic or mechanical certification preferred.
  • Industrial Certificate preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing planned and scheduled maintenance, including PMs and change overs.
  • Completing FSR’s for change overs and PM’s.
  • Completing assigned work orders.
  • Supporting plant operations for any mechanical and/or electrical issues.
  • Completing assigned improvement or special projects.
  • Driving improvements to the production equipment.
  • Rebuilding any required parts.
  • Accountable for all projects, repairs, and/or improvement on the equipment as well as any mold changes and maintaining preventative maintenance.
  • Ensuring proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.
  • Improving the production equipment, utilities, efficiency and reliability.
  • Recommending, planning, repairing, modifying, making, installing and adjusting all the necessary elements following a problem or a project, which may have an effect of the productivity.
  • Reviewing Visual management boards and addressing issues.
  • Driving Process Control procedures.
  • Ensuring production equipment is performing to 87% company standard and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor the progress of projects, general maintenance needs and improvements.
  • Ensuring needed parts are on site for upcoming PM’s.
  • Assisting in updating and developing and improving equipment PM programs.
  • Communicating to supervisors on the condition of all production equipment.
  • Assisting in machine operation if need arises.
  • Assisting in maintaining appropriate stock of spare parts ensuring that parts catalogue is up-to-date room is organized and kept clean and tidy.
  • Signing out parts from the spare parts crib.
  • Requesting parts needed to complete repairs and replace stock.
  • Assisting contractors in machine and building repairs.
  • Assisting other maintenance employees with repairs, PM, installation, commissioning and testing of equipment.
  • Assisting and training production employees in machine conversions and PM’s.
  • Assisting with training operators and other maintenance co-workers.
  • Directing and advising production employees when they help with repairs.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs of PM’s.
  • Keeping all tools in good and safe condition and ensuring tools are returned to its appropriate location.
  • Attending daily maintenance meeting.
  • Exhibiting teamwork skills and actively participating in team activities in a positive working environment.

  • Following Company policies and displaying conduct expected of Amcor employees.

  • Reporting all accidents and near misses in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining proper ergonomics at all times.
  • Meeting and maintaining all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Amcor.
  • Meeting daily production goals and departmental objectives.
  • Cleaning all assigned work areas after completion of the required work, returning all tools to proper storage area at the end of the shift and reporting any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals.
  • Reporting daily on Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Directing all non-conforming parts to the appropriate reprocess area.
  • Maintaining standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately recording production.
  • Communicating production information at shift change.
  • Maintaining proper radio etiquette when using company radios, PA system and/or phone, business use only.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
