About The Position

This role is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment and building operations, including the ready-mix plant, recycler, and other miscellaneous equipment. The technician will ensure all equipment is operated safely, reinforce the safety culture, and attend safety meetings. A key focus is ensuring the mechanical availability of the ready-mix plant daily and minimizing unplanned production outages. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, resolving equipment breakdowns effectively, and avoiding temporary fixes. The technician will also educate operations and plant managers on appropriate plant operation methods, troubleshoot unexpected breakdowns to identify root causes, and work with the Accounting department to ensure administrative procedures and expense categorizations are followed. Daily Key Performance Indicators will be utilized to drive operational excellence in maintenance. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Requirements

  • Must know all aspects of air handling devices, i.e. cylinders, solenoids, compressors, regulators.
  • Knowledgeable of electric over air systems.
  • Must be able to work with PVC and rigid piping for handling of air and water.
  • Knowledge of pumps and their capacities.
  • Must understand 480-volt systems and lower.
  • Must be able to read schematics and prints.
  • Troubleshooting experience necessary.
  • Computer batch panel experience necessary.
  • Must be able to read prints and plant layout features, i.e. plumbing, air and electrical systems, conveyors, hoppers, silos and bins.
  • Must be able to use a transit and experience installing forms.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training and/or certification in air handling devices.
  • Formal training and/or certification in the utilization of tools.
  • Formal and/or certification in understanding 480-volt systems and lower, reading schematics and prints, and computer batch panel experience.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain equipment and building operations including ready-mix plant, recycler and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Repair plant equipment to ensure safe operation and reinforce the safety culture.
  • Attend plant safety meetings and fix issues identified during plant inspections in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the ready-mix plant is mechanically available every day and minimize unplanned production outages.
  • Proactively communicate problems in achieving continual plant uptime to the Ready Mix Management Team.
  • Perform all preventive maintenance activities and quickly resolve all equipment breakdowns.
  • Avoid fixing equipment with temporary patches that do not resolve the fundamental cause of the equipment failure.
  • Develop additional skills required to continually improve personal mechanical abilities.
  • Educate the Operations Manager, Plant Managers, and Drivers about the appropriate methods to operate all parts of the plant.
  • Troubleshoot unexpected breakdowns to identify root causes of the failure.
  • Work with the Accounting department to ensure all administrative procedures are followed and that all maintenance expenses are appropriately categorized by piece of equipment.
  • Utilize daily Key Performance Indicators to drive operational excellence in maintenance.
