About The Position

Vestis® is seeking a safety-focused, team-oriented 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic for their industrial laundry facility in Lawrence, MA. This role involves performing scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to emergency repairs, and installing, maintaining, and repairing facility equipment, machinery, structures, and electrical systems. The position supports a strong culture of safety and contributes to keeping the facility running efficiently. The shift is Monday-Friday, 2pm–10:30pm.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated mechanical and basic electrical aptitude.
  • Skills in welding, hand and power tools, and electrical motors.
  • Computer literate, familiarity with Internet-based software, MS Office, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to comprehend and perform all required training.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on a set schedule; Overtime may be required if needed.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electric meters, or ability to learn.
  • 1-3 years of Mechanical experience required.
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of industrial laundry equipment.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding/metal fabrication is a big plus.
  • Industrial Laundry experience a plus but not required.
  • 1-3 Electromechanical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, HAZmat procedures and regulations helpful.
  • Excellent mechanical dexterity and ability.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing all plant equipment including high volume industrial washers, dryers, rail and trolley systems, Presses, and ironers.
  • Performing emergency repairs on equipment when necessary.
  • Assisting other technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Completing work orders, records, logs, and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures.
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g., multi-meter, laptop).
  • Operating powered equipment.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, conveyor equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, dock equipment, electronic and electrical equipment) according to safety and quality procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical/electronic problems with equipment, networks, PC logic controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and external Input/Output (I/O) devices.
  • Assisting in the development of specific technical and training documentation.
  • Providing resolutions to mechanical, technical/controls issues and documenting all information in the CMMS database.
  • Following up with other departments to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Participating in cleaning the equipment as appropriate.
  • Completing appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to all department and company standards, operating procedures, and safety requirements while contributing to improvement.
  • Performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
