About The Position

The Starbucks Roasting Plants have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering, and logistics. As a plant lead, you will assist the supervisor in day-to-day operations, prepare for and execute routine shift procedures, and serve as an escalation resource for problems and issues that arise during your assigned shift. You will audit your assigned functional area daily to ensure product quality, inventory accuracy, and customer service standards. You will lead and carry out daily manufacturing, distribution, or green coffee operations tasks, ensuring the team meets daily productivity goals. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment is crucial, as is providing training and coaching to team members on standard operating procedures, quality, and safety. You will also recommend process improvements, support business changes, potentially create staffing schedules, and review line communication boards for Continuous Improvement suggestions. Additionally, you will review and update Kronos to ensure partner timesheets are accurate, demonstrate and understand safety as a core value, and act as a safety change agent. You will support food safety, legality, and quality programs, maintaining product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications, and quality procedures. You will perform other duties as needed to support business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values, and maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

Manufacturing computerized systems or automated distribution or warehouse systems (1 year)
Manufacturing or distribution environment (4 years)
High School Diploma/GED or 4 or more years of US military service
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF).

Responsibilities

Assist supervisor in day-to-day operations and advises of task completion.
Prepare for and executes routine shift kick-off, close-out procedures, and completes shift notes.
Serve as an escalation resource for problems and issues that arise during assigned shift.

Oversee team execution of master sanitation schedule.
Provide training and coaching to team members on standard operating procedures, quality and safety procedures and regulations.

May create staffing schedules and communicate with temporary staffing agency to provide needed associates.
Review line communication boards for Continuous Improvement suggestions, enters work orders into maintenance tracking system for issues requiring follow up.
Review and update Kronos ensure partner timesheets are accurate.

Understand and follow established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out).
