About The Position

The Plant Lead will assist the Plant Manager in providing and maintaining a safe work environment per OSHA standards, following environmental policies and procedures, and operating equipment safely and efficiently. This role involves establishing effective production and maintenance schedules, producing at acceptable levels per budget, and coordinating daily tasks of employees. The Lead Person ensures equipment is inspected daily for safety and maintenance defects, schedules routine maintenance, and ensures pre-processed material is available for production. They will also track inventory of critical spare parts, train and mentor operators, maintain excellent housekeeping standards, ensure safe traffic patterns, and monitor overall production efficiency, reporting inadequacies to the manager. Additionally, the role involves performing manual labor tasks to operate equipment, filling in as needed, participating in safety meetings, providing production numbers, and reporting employee or equipment issues to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time at conveyor belt operation.
  • Ability to climb heights of 20 feet on a regular basis
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or pull 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in dusty, wet, and loud environment
  • Required to wear safety equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, steel toed boots, ear plugs, gloves and various other similar items as required or needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Plant Manager
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment per OSHA standards
  • Follow environmental policies and procedures at all times
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment
  • Establish effective production and maintenance schedules
  • Produce at acceptable levels per budget
  • Coordinate and monitor daily tasks of employees
  • Ensure employees inspect equipment daily for safety and maintenance defects
  • Schedule, assist and coordinate routine maintenance on the plant and mobile equipment
  • Ensure pre-processed material is available for production
  • Track inventory of critical spare parts
  • Properly train and mentor operators to achieve higher levels of efficiency
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and organization
  • Ensure safe traffic patterns between plant equipment and customers
  • Monitor overall production efficiency and report inadequacies to manager
  • Perform lifting, pulling, carrying and other manual labor tasks to operate equipment designed to crush concrete on job site
  • Operate equipment or at plant; when needed to fill-in as needed to accomplish productivity objectives
  • Participate in daily or weekly safety meetings
  • Provide daily plant production numbers with downtime data to scale person
  • Report all employee and/or equipment related problems to the Plant Manager
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Plant Manager
