About The Position

This role focuses on Plant Health Care (PHC) with specific responsibilities in chemical application, pest and disease identification, and client communication. The specialist will be a resource for operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in PHC/Chemical Application.
  • Active QAL (Qualified Applicator License).
  • Ability to periodically lift 60 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, climb, and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE.
  • Must be an authorized driver.
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking comprehension.
  • Familiarity with technology including smartphones, MS Excel, and Aspire.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for and communicate with Operations.
  • Perform Biocontrol applications.
  • Conduct Deep Root Watering.
  • Apply chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Communicate with clients and the public at job sites.
  • Read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and labels.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Consider weather conditions in operations.
  • Perform mixing, calculating, and calibrating for applications.
  • Follow chemical spill procedures.
  • Manage clean-up and disposal of materials.
  • Ensure chemicals are properly labeled and stored.
  • Inspect PHC storage areas and trucks for compliance.
  • Identify and implement control methods for pests and diseases (75% of duties).
  • Identify and implement control methods for weeds (75% of duties).
  • Identify plants, shrubs, and trees (50% of duties).
  • Distribute chemicals to crew leaders/managers.
  • Understand and adhere to state laws and regulations.
  • Operate manual valves and quick couplers.
  • Protect people, the environment, animals, and self.
  • Diagnose pest/disease damage and advise on appropriate treatment.
  • Troubleshoot PHC site issues and make appropriate decisions.
  • Complete administrative tasks and paperwork, including time cards, weekly schedules, PHC work orders, purchase order requests, chemical use reports, chemical inventory reports, and incident/injury reports.
  • Maintain and report chemical inventory.
  • Clean tools and equipment, and be responsible for their use and care.
  • Maintain vehicle responsibility.
