About The Position

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment. The operator must have at least two years of experience operating a loader on road construction projects, in a quarry, or at an asphalt plant. Work may involve travel from interstate highways to rural dirt roads and various locations.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience operating a loader on road construction projects, in a quarry, or at an asphalt plant.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Knowledge of weight requirements for loads leaving the pit.
• Knowledge of equipment and its uses.
• Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and walk, stoop, squat, sit, and kneel.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines before digging.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance, or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Keep time and material records.
• Travel from interstate highways to rural dirt roads and various locations.
