About The Position

The Quality & Technical Leader reports directly to the Site Leader and is responsible for leading the plant Quality department. This role provides technical and operational leadership to improve product quality, process capability, and manufacturing efficiency. The Quality & Technical Leader drives initiatives that improve how products are made, leads review and resolution of quality issues, and ensures corrective actions are implemented with long-term effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Able to effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in quality, process engineering, technical leadership, or manufacturing improvement within an industrial environment.
  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action skills with the ability to convert findings into sustainable process improvements.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, process control, statistical methods, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Must remain drug free.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean and Six Sigma or TPM experience.
  • Experience with process capability analysis, control plans, and audit systems.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams through chronic issue resolution and process change.
  • Comfort working with data, trends, and plant metrics to prioritize improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety.
  • Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate asset operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec.
  • Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on-the-job injury when it occurs, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
  • Participates in plant TPM initiatives
  • Lead the Quality department and provide direction, coaching, and prioritization for quality personnel and related plant resources.
  • Serve as the primary plant contact for quality issues, customer complaints, and internal non-conformances, and lead structured problem solving to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Drive initiatives that improve product quality, process consistency, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency using data-based analysis, Lean principles, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and other plant functions to troubleshoot process and equipment issues that affect quality, waste, reliability, and productivity.
  • Develop, update, and sustain standard operating procedures, process specifications, control plans, and audit routines to ensure improvements remain effective over time.
  • Review quality trends, process capability, inspection results, and recurring losses to identify priorities and lead long-term improvement efforts.
  • Ensure product and raw material specifications, testing methods, and plant quality practices are current and aligned with division requirements.
  • Support plant leadership with technical analysis, project prioritization, and implementation of process improvements that strengthen overall plant performance.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to plant personnel on quality expectations, problem solving, and process discipline.
  • Promote a safe, compliant, and collaborative work environment while reinforcing accountability, communication, and teamwork across the site.
  • Support the training and development of colleagues.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.
  • Identify and participate, proactively, in learning opportunities, and develop expertise in those areas.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and processes.
