Plant Engineer, Throughput & EIC Support
About The Position
The Plant Engineer, Throughput & EIC Support role is based at Clorox’s Atlanta West manufacturing facility in Forest Park, Georgia, and reports to the Site Engineering Leader. The role focuses on sustainable throughput improvements across packaging and/or processing operations by eliminating constraints, reducing manufacturing losses, and improving equipment and process capability. It partners closely with Maintenance and Operations leaders, applies structured problem-solving methods, and leads or supports a limited number of targeted capital and technical projects. The position also serves as the site engineering owner and operational partner for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), supporting system reliability, data integrity, issue resolution, and continuous improvement. The engineer coordinates with plant users and cross-functional partners on MES support and enhancements, improves manufacturing data capture and usability, and maintains related documentation and procedures. Assigned work must align with site safety, quality, environmental, cybersecurity, regulatory, budget, and change-control requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, manufacturing systems, automation, process improvement, maintenance, or a related technical environment.
- Experience supporting, administering, implementing, or improving a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or comparable manufacturing operations system.
- Demonstrated experience improving equipment, process, system, or manufacturing performance.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, environmental, cybersecurity, regulatory, and change-management expectations.
- Experience applying DMAIC, formal project management, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, RCFA, or another formal structured problem-solving methodology.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing data, identify systemic losses, determine root causes, and implement sustainable countermeasures.
- Strong manufacturing troubleshooting, prioritization, documentation, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, maintenance technicians, technical specialists, vendors, Information Technology partners, and site leaders.

Responsibilities
- Lead data-driven initiatives to improve packaging and/or processing throughput, remove bottlenecks, and improve equipment and process capability.
- Partner with Maintenance and Operations leaders to address daily and long-term performance issues, recurring failures, reliability opportunities, and operating standards.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify systemic losses, determine root causes, and implement sustainable countermeasures.
- Use structured problem-solving methods to take issues from problem definition through verified sustainment.
- Serve as the site engineering owner and operational partner for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Coordinate investigation and resolution of MES issues affecting production, data integrity, reporting, material transactions, equipment interfaces, or operator workflows.
- Partner with plant users, Engineering, Quality, Information Technology, system vendors, and equipment suppliers on MES reliability, enhancements, testing, deployment, and support.
- Improve manufacturing data capture and usability and build Operations and Maintenance capability to use MES effectively.
- Maintain MES documentation, process maps, standard work, troubleshooting guidance, change controls, and contingency procedures.
- Translate operating needs into clear technical or system requirements.
- Lead or support capital and technical projects from scope development through integration, commissioning, user acceptance, training, and start-up.
- Apply formal project management practices to plan, execute, and sustain projects and improvements.
- Support equipment, process, and system improvements that contribute to manufacturing performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with Production employees, Maintenance technicians, technical specialists, vendors, Information Technology partners, and site leaders.
- Ensure assigned work aligns with site safety, quality, environmental, cybersecurity, regulatory, budget, and change-control requirements.
- Provide clear documentation, communication, and follow-through across cross-functional improvement and technical initiatives.
