About The Position

Operates and maintains boilers, chillers, generators and associated support systems. This role involves monitoring control screens, meters, and gauges to ensure proper equipment operation, starting and stopping equipment as needed, and performing cleaning and repair tasks. The Plant Engineer is also responsible for maintaining logs, conducting generator testing, operating switchgear, completing maintenance work orders, and ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. Additionally, the role includes coordinating fire and life safety measures, assisting in training other engineers, and maintaining regular attendance and compliance with company policies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in building trades or energy plant operations required.
  • Three years of experience is required if a trade or vocational school graduate.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors control screens and observes various meters and gauges to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Starts, stops and switches over boilers as appropriate.
  • Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, and pumping equipment.
  • Starts and stops chillers to maintain setpoints and efficiency.
  • Checks and monitors cooling towers and regulates feed water.
  • Keeps appropriate logs for chemical treatment to boiler and cooling system water.
  • Conducts and documents generator testing.
  • Operates switchgear to regulate and transfer power loads.
  • Completes assigned preventative and corrective maintenance work orders and ensures work order data is captured in TMS.
  • Log all pertinent operating information and maintains records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Coordinates, conducts and documents all fire and life safety measures to include inspections and testing to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Assists in training other plant engineers with energy plant operation/maintenance specific skills.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
