About The Position

The Plant Engineer role is responsible for supporting the achievement of plant Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals. This position leads continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies, focusing on product quality enhancements, productivity and efficiency gains, and scrap reduction. The role also supports the Maintenance team to improve equipment reliability and assists the Technical Training Coordinator in developing and delivering technical training for Production and Maintenance personnel. Additionally, the Plant Engineer supports all integration equipment and services, contributes to the development of new technologies and improvements to existing systems, and participates in design reviews, installation, qualification, and startup of new equipment. This role also manages and executes Engineering Sample Requests, maintains engineering project files, and serves as a mentor and technical resource for employees, providing support in preventative maintenance systems, in-house rebuilds, mechanical troubleshooting, and failure analysis. Key initiatives include safety improvements, automation and process control advancements, and spare parts optimization. The Plant Engineer continuously develops technical expertise and provides support to Production and Maintenance teams, including after-hours technical assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Engineering field
  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Preferred
  • Design Experience with 2D CAD software
  • Strong Organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing (Injection/Compression Molding)
  • Design Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience with PLC, VFD, and associated I/O programming

Responsibilities

  • Leads by example in maintaining a strong safety culture, always prioritizing Safety #1 and mentoring others.
  • Assists the Safety Manager with risk assessments and verification of safe work procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all plant safety policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drives safety improvement initiatives and supports incident prevention efforts across the facility.
  • Supports the achievement of plant Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals.
  • Leads continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies, focusing on product quality enhancements, productivity and efficiency gains, and scrap reduction.
  • Supports Maintenance team to improve equipment reliability.
  • Assists Technical Training Coordinator in the development and delivery technical training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
  • Supports all integration equipment and services, while contributing to development of new technologies and improvements to existing systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, installation, qualification, and startup of new equipment.
  • Completes Management of Change (MOC) documentation for applicable projects.
  • Manages and executes Engineering Sample Requests as required to support new product development and existing product enhancements.
  • Maintains engineering project files and major equipment master data sheets.
  • Serves as a mentor and technical resource for employees, providing support in Preventative Maintenance (PM) systems and execution, In-house rebuilds and component repairs, and Mechanical troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Leads initiatives related to Safety improvements, Automation and process control advancements, and Spare parts optimization and inventory availability.
  • Continuously develops technical expertise through training and benchmarking visits to other plants and customer sites.
  • Provides support to Production and Maintenance teams, including after-hours technical assistance as needed.
  • Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
