About The Position

The Plant Chemist ensures accurate lab testing, quality control, and reporting by managing laboratory operations, analyzing production samples, and supporting site quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–2 years of hands-on laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical procedures and data reporting
  • Basic understanding of statistics and quality control methods
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to be on call for off-shift or weekend support as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with XRF and other industrial lab instrumentation
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and control charts
  • Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a lab environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analysis of production and customer samples to ensure quality standards
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., XRF, LECO, furnaces)
  • Manage laboratory inventory and ensure adequate stocking of materials
  • Record and analyze data in LIMS and communicate results to operations leadership
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis for outbound shipments
  • Monitor quality trends and support QC/QA program development
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Lab Technicians
  • Maintain a safe, organized laboratory environment and support compliance efforts
