About The Position

Pridgeon and Clay, a leading manufacturer of automotive components, is seeking a Plant Chemical Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining all aspects of plant chemicals, associated waste by-products, and the distribution and storage of these materials in accordance with company quality policies. The ideal candidate will be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team, contributing to the production of high-quality products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing skills
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer's instructions for coolant requirements
  • Previous experience driving a hilo, or ability to pass written and practical tests for P&C hilo license
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word computer programs or computer literacy
  • Ability to pass written and practical tests to obtain P&C hi-lo/forklift and crane license
  • Proven mechanical inclination and general math and manufacturing knowledge through standardized tests
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • An excellent work record, including attendance

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on parts washers, central parts washer fluid recycling systems, stamping lubricant dilution systems, injector systems, machining coolant tanks, skimmers, and supply equipment for production and tool room machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on wash bay and plant chemical waste tanks and remediation systems.
  • Perform corrective maintenance repairs (mechanical/fabrication) on various equipment including parts washers, lubricant dilution systems, grinders, sanders, CNC mills and lathes, and waste system pumps.
  • Identify, create, and execute corrective maintenance work for specified equipment.
  • Communicate proactively with production and maintenance personnel regarding equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform weekly hydraulic fluid checks and refills.
  • Create and close corrective and preventative maintenance work orders in the EAM system, documenting time, work performed, and categorizations.
  • Document daily work order activity in the Electronic Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Identify and attempt to eliminate areas of waste for improved efficiency in plant chemical needs and usage.
  • Participate in lean initiatives, continuous improvement events, and problem-solving events.
  • Suggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency.
  • Communicate potential cost savings to other Technicians and Team Leaders.
  • Participate in 8D and 5-Why problem-solving teams.
  • Perform daily swarf management checks and monitor ISO 14001 aspects.
  • Perform daily waste lube barrel checks, pumping, and recording ISO 14001 aspects.
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions for plant chemical dosing/dilution equipment and testing requirements.
  • Conduct titration tests and record observations for plant chemical applications.
  • Monitor and maintain automated plant chemical dosing equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain proper fluid/titration levels in central wash recycle system equipment.
  • Conduct refractometer concentration testing and record observations.
  • Maintain required fluid levels in main area and remote chemical storage tanks/reservoirs.
  • Maintain and support the organization of TS16949/14001 records, including various logs and charts.
  • Issue plant chemical-related MRO inventory items to appropriate departments, machines, and work orders.
  • Identify deficiencies in plant chemical-related MRO inventory item counts and request adjustments.
  • Identify additional MRO or plant chemical-related MRO items required for inventory.
  • Consistently adhere to company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS 16949, and safety regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including MIOSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Operate department Hilo(s) and cranes.
  • Identify potential safety issues and take appropriate action.
  • Ensure the environment is free of avoidable risks and report concerns immediately.
  • Organize and maintain personal work area and maintenance area per 5S standards.
  • Notify Team Leader if repair or replacement of machinery or equipment is needed.
  • Exhibit appropriate attendance habits and work necessary hours.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Facilities Team Leader.
  • Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback to co-workers and management.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers in production and maintenance and management personnel.
  • Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Pick up and deliver product to suppliers and customers, as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining P&C values daily.
