About The Position

Polyglass is a manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing solutions. The Plant Buyer works at the Fernley, Nevada location and reports to the Plant Manager. The role manages purchasing and inventory activities for raw materials, packaging, production supplies, maintenance items, and other required supplies. It uses business systems and MRP reports to align purchasing with plant consumption, support timely deliveries, maintain accurate inventory, and manage supplier relationships.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with buying and forecasting processes.
• Experience with vendors and vendor management.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AS-400, D365, or another enterprise-wide system.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Four years of experience as a Buyer with negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Review inventory levels using business computer systems and MRP reports to maintain adequate raw-material inventories.
• Place purchase orders as needed and follow up to support timely delivery of goods.
• Run reports to align raw-material purchase levels with plant consumption.
• Create purchase requisitions and orders for maintenance parts, production and maintenance supplies, personal protective equipment, and other items as required.
• Conduct cycle counts of raw materials as necessary to maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Maintain vendor files, quotes, and related records.
• Manage vendor interactions, including issuing purchase orders, collecting Certificates of Analysis, and handling complaints.
• Manage and maintain appropriate inventory levels of packaging and production supplies.
• Review and monitor inbound raw-material freight for cost control.
• Search for new suppliers to improve sourcing leverage.
